My name is Elizabeth Shew, and I am very honored to serve as your 8th grade English Language Arts Teacher at South Vermillion Middle School. My goal is to provide rigorous learning to prepare students for high school and beyond. I have been teaching since 1995. My love of learning has led me to earn a master's degree and a Ph.D. in education. Even though I taught at Indiana State University for a couple of years, my favorite level is middle school. This is the age when students are beginning to make life decisions that will affect their future. Hopefully, I will be able to guide them towards successful paths.
I have a wonderful husband who is a Purdue Alum and farms corn, popcorn, and soybeans on 2,600 acres in rural Indiana. My daughter loves math and science, but thankfully loves to read novels, too. She even raised a pig for 4-H this year! We had a Shih Tzu named Charlie (black) who loved tractor rides. Unfortunately, he recently passed away. We recently got Bella (brown and white) who is too little to experience the farm just yet. However, she loves to play ball and take naps. Together we were named "Farm Family of the Year" for our county, even though I only contribute by taking dinner out to the field.
